I graduated my undergraduate studies with
Metal Molding Design in 2007 at Hongik University
and my Master’s with Contextual Design in 2010 at
Design Academy Eindhoven (Netherlands).
With my start of furniture design works in 2013,
I am conducting a research on the nature
and meaning of objects.
My leading work ‘Material Container’ and
‘Structure for Use’ series were exhibited in
London Design Festival, Milano Furniture Fair,
National Museum of Art in Munich,
National Museum of Fine Arts in Paris,
Nomad Monaco 2018, and the Carwan Gallery in Lebanon.
And currently run my own design studio in Seongsu-dong,
with my upcoming private exhibition in January,
I am working on lighting and furniture design
on the subject of ‘Volume.’
Stationery Series manufactured by masonry artisans of Jeju.
The stationery designed through shapes of volcanic cones, columnar joints, Jeongnang(wooden pillars where the gate of house fences are placed in Jeju)
are composed into bookends, coasters, penholders,
paperweight and pen tray, and the basalt sculptures,
which are by-products of masonry in construction sites in Jeju,
are manufactured and created by the local artisans.
