A goat in the Philippines recently delivered an uncommon-looking creature, which some have suggested looks ‘half-pig, half-human.’
Startled farmer Josephine Repique, 40, stated earlier this month her pregnant goat gave birth on her small Sultan Kudarat farm. The farmer brought in a vet who conducted a caesarian section and abstracted one healthy kid – though, the other one was dragged out to gasps of astonishment.
The second kid was born fur-less and appears to have pale, shiny skin with trotters and what seems to be a belly button. It is much larger than its litter-pal. Repique said the creature ‘looked like a pig with a mix of human’.
“We were shocked. We can’t explain how it looks like that. All our neighbors flocked into our house to get a good look,” she furthered. “Nobody knows what it is. But it’s not a goat. It’s scary. We’re all wondering why it happened and if it is bad luck.”
Experts figure that the goat possessed some form of genetic mutation whilst in the womb. Dr Agapita Salces of the Institute of Animal Science of the University of the Philippines explained: “It is a possible case of genetic mutation. It is also possible that the mother contracted a disease called Rift Valley fever from mosquito bites and this caused the impaired development of the infant.”
Alas, soon after giving birth the mother and both kids died, sparking fears among various villagers that it was ‘a cursed mutant devil’.
We can take that as fluff, though, with the genuine reason being genetic fault (more than likely) and distressing birth.
