HANOI, Vietnam – US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un resumed summit meetings at 8:55 a.m. Thursday at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel in Hanoi.
The two held a brief one-on-one meeting at the same venue Wednesday evening, followed by a social dinner where they were accompanied by their top aides, including US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Kim Yong-chol, vice chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea.
At the start of Wednesday’s meeting, which lasted about 30 minutes, Kim expressed hopes for his second summit with Trump, while hinting at frustration at the slow progress since their last meeting on June 12 in Singapore.
As for Trump, he again touted his relationship with Kim, and reiterated that the North has high economic potential once denuclearization is achieved.
