"The Fire Lake" | SΓ£o Miguel Island, Azores, Portugal An image I've taken some years ago, sitting on my hard drive , waiting for a much deserved re-process. Shot with older gear, before cameras had infinite dynamic range, when I had much less knowledge about ND grad filters. This photo was taken in one of the islands of the magical and gorgeous Azores archipelago. I went to the S. Miguel island on a job assignment, and free time was scarce. Fortunately, me and a group of friends managed to arrange a 4 hour car travel through the island, and what a feast for the eyes that trip was! This is, in my opinion, along with S. Jorge, the most beautiful island in Azores. The depicted lake is located on the top of a volcanic mountain, and it's called Lagoa do Fogo (Fire Lake). It's the 2nd largest lake of the island, and it's located 575 metres high.

Photo Tip ☝️ When photographing the night sky with high ISO settings, photographers often stack multiple images to help minimise the noise / grain. The final stacked image will show parts of the scene that remain consistent from one exposure to the next. But because digital noise is random, and changes from one click to the next, much of it will be cleaned up during the stacking process. Photo πŸ“· @missjessbess ⏱ Foreground shot during blue hour, one shot with f/11 Aperture, ISO 100 and 30 second shutter speed. Sky is a 20 image stack to help minimise noise, f/2.8, ISO 10,000, and 15 second shutter speed.
